The breeding of waxberry

The breeding of waxberry can be used for sowing, buckling, grafting, ramets and other breeding methods. Sowing method is not easy to maintain the original fine characteristics of flowers, and the advantage of sowing is that it breeds in large numbers, and most of the blooms only need to cultivate a few plants, so they are generally not used. More grafting methods are used. There are two methods of grafting and splicing, and the most used method is cutting. The cutting time is about mid-March, and it is best to start when the bud leaves sprout to the size of rice grains. If you miss the timing, wait until the leaf buds become too large or have already sent out the leaves, and then cut them and it will not be easy to survive. Cut up the seedlings of the commonly used dog tooth waxy plum as the rootstock, and use the precious varieties such as Suxin or Yanshimei to scion. The scion should select one year thick and long branches one year before, cutting off its tip, so that the nutrients can be concentrated on the buds in the middle of the branches. The scions are about 7-8 cm long and 1-2 pairs of buds are kept. When cutting scion, do not cut too deep, which is slightly exposed to the xylem. Anvil stakes are cut 5-6 cm from the ground, cut down from 1/3 of the diameter of the rootstock, split 4-5 cm, insert the waxy scion into the cuts of the rootstock, align the layers, and then use a soft hemp skin. Lay tightly, and then use loose soil to seal the rootstock and scion together until the top of the scion is covered. Afterwards, keep the soil moist. After one month, loosen the soil and check if it survives. If it has survived, remove other sprouts from the rootstock to promote bud growth. Then cover it with loose soil to prevent the buds that have just lived from being killed by the wind and sun. After another month, the soil was gradually removed and the buds gradually accepted the sunlight. The bloom grown with this method grows vigorously and can grow to about 50 cm in that year. Some people in Lamei also use the ramets method to breed. If only a few plants need to be propagated, this method is suitable. The propagation of ramets usually occurs when the buds have not germinated between the months of spring and spring. For ramets, first dig the roots of the mother plant by the side of the mother plant, excise the daughter plant from the mother root with a sterilized knife, and make another plant. Then planting, pay attention to shade after planting, keep the soil moist, until after the volts, apply liquid fertilizer once every half months, then you can grow strong branches and leaves, 2-3 years after flowering. Breeding by this method is simple and easy, the survival rate is high, the time for raising seedlings is short, and the flowering time is fast. China Agricultural Network Editor
