Fruit tree water saving cultivation technology

Drought is a widespread challenge that affects human societies globally. Cultivating economic crops in arid regions can significantly enhance both environmental conditions and the national economy. This project focuses on the specific needs of fruit tree production in dry areas. Through cluster analysis, we have identified several types of arid regions and determined suitable fruit tree varieties and rootstock types for each. Additionally, we have developed water-saving cultivation techniques tailored to different scenarios. These include practices such as organic matter application, mulching with film, hole-based fertilizer storage, precision fertilization, grass cover, anti-transpiration sprays, water retention agents, branch shaping, energy-efficient pruning, and effective pest control. These technologies are crucial for improving both the yield and quality of fruit trees grown in dryland conditions. The project has already shown promising results. In the demonstration orchards established in arid areas, the survival rate exceeds 95% since the project's inception. Trees begin to flower within three years and start producing fruit by the fourth year. The average annual yield per mu reaches over 600 kilograms. After transforming low-yield orchards, the output has increased by more than 30 to 50 percent annually. These achievements highlight the practical value and long-term potential of this approach in sustainable agriculture under drought conditions.
