OmniVision Technologies, Inc. introduces the newest member of the medical imaging sensor portfolio, the OV6930. The new low-power OV6930 is a SquareGA, square graphics array (400 x 400 pixels), CMOS image sensor with 1/10 inch optical format and 1.8 mm x 1.8 mm package size, making it an outer diameter of less than 2.8. Ideal for camera applications in mm, such as medical endoscopes for minimally invasive medical procedures.
The OV6930 uses 3 micron OmniPixel3-HS pixel technology to achieve the best 3300 mV/Lux-second low light performance in its class. There are no other CMOS image sensors on the market that can have such a small "body shape" while providing high performance and sensitivity comparable to the OV6930, making the OV6930 a very compelling solution in the medical device market.

The OV6930 provides full frame or cropped analog images in RAW RGB format with control over the patent-pending new serial I/O. The serial I/O supports up to 14 feet of two-wire routing, consuming as little as 80mW when using IO, and as low as 10mW when not using IO. The product features an image array that operates at 30 frames per second at full 400 x 400 resolution, 60 frames per second at 400 x 200 resolution, and simplified exposure control. The serial interface is programmed. The OV6930 produces clear, stable color images by reducing or eliminating lighting or electrical factors that can cause image contamination such as fixed pattern noise and smudges, and uses proprietary sensor technology to improve image quality.
