The First Case of Somatic Cell Cloning in Inner Mongolia

In the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the first case of somatic cell cloning was at 11:29 on June 25th in Hohhot and Linger Dazheng Meilian Embryonic Transplantation Base. The "surrogate mother" of the black-and-white clone of the cow's beak, named "Mongolian", is a native white Luxi cattle, and the donor cow is Australia's Holstein cow. The newborn "Mongolian" is 0.77 meters high, 1.05 meters long and weighs 46.5 kilograms. In late June, the "motherhood" of "surrogate mother" entered the expected date of birth. After diagnosis and analysis, considering that the donor cow was tall, the "surrogate mother" was relatively short and the fetal position was not correct. In order to prevent accidents, researchers decided to conduct a Caesarean section using Professor Wu Shuqing, a professor of animal science and medicine at Inner Mongolia Agricultural University. Wu Shuqing introduced that the “hearty” heart, lungs, and kidneys function normally. They only have larger bodies, weighing 6 to 7 kilograms more than ordinary burdock, and their bodies are weak. This high-yielding dairy cow somatic cell cloning technology research was hosted by the Autonomous Region Academy of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, and was funded by experts from the Australian International Cloning Company and Inner Mongolia University under the support of the Autonomous Regional Bureau of Foreign Experts. Researchers used genetic genes from high-producing dairy cows in Australia and conducted systematic studies and experiments on somatic cell cloning techniques. Somatic cell clone embryo transfer was performed in September 2004. The Institute of Animal Husbandry of the Academy of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of the Autonomous Region has long told reporters that the success of this research technology indicates that the autonomous region's livestock science and technology personnel have mastered the most advanced somatic cell cloning technology in the world. The application and promotion of this technology will have a profound impact on the dairy cattle industry and livestock husbandry in the autonomous region and even throughout the country.
