After low tide, the water level should be maintained at approximately 1 meter, and the primary food source is again seaweed.
4. Land-based aquaculture methods include:
(1) Multi-tier tank farming: This approach uses long, shallow tanks arranged in multiple layers, often equipped with mesh screens and attachment plates. Each tank is 0.5 to 0.7 meters wide and 0.3 to 0.4 meters deep, with lengths varying from 1 to 10 meters. The vertical spacing between layers is typically around 0.5 meters. The stocking density varies: 200-400 per square meter for abalone up to 5 cm, and 100-150 per square meter for those over 6 cm.
(2) Plastic tank farming in ponds: This method utilizes a pond area of 20 to 40 square meters, with a depth of 1 to 1.2 meters. Each plastic box measures 39 cm in length, 30 cm in width, and 12 cm in height. Five to seven boxes are stacked vertically and bundled together, then placed in rows within the pond, leaving space for workers to move between them. Water is supplied at least three to six times the volume of the pond daily, and continuous aeration is maintained for 24 hours. The primary feed includes fresh or dried kelp, ensuring a consistent and nutritious diet for the abalone.
