Maintaining cleanliness and preventing diseases is also critical during winter. Regularly check the pens, bedding, water sources, and feed to ensure they remain clean and free from contamination. Disinfection may be necessary if an outbreak is suspected. Sheep owners should also learn how to recognize and treat common illnesses. For example, in early winter, sheep may suffer from lice infestations. To treat this, mix rapeseed oil and kerosene and apply it to the affected areas 3–5 times daily for 3–4 days. Alternatively, a mixture of 100 grams of raw lard and 150 grams of ginger can be prepared and rubbed onto the affected areas once or twice daily to help eliminate the parasites. Proactive care and attention are key to keeping the flock healthy throughout the winter months.
