Tomato flower tips

To grow high-quality tomatoes, it's essential to go beyond just applying basic fertilizers and adding phosphorus and potassium. Timely pruning, the scientific and rational use of pesticides, disease prevention, and avoiding excessive humidity are all crucial steps. Additionally, attention must be paid to preventing fruit drop and increasing overall yield by using plant growth regulators like blossom hormones. One commonly used substance is 2,4-D (dichlorophenoxyacetic acid), which helps in promoting fruit set and reducing blossom drop. The correct application of 2,4-D depends on the temperature inside the greenhouse. When the temperature is above 15°C, the recommended concentration is 10 mg/L. This means adding 1 to 14 drops of the concentrated solution to 1 liter of water, then shaking well. If the temperature is below 15°C, the concentration should be increased to 15 mg/L, which translates to 18 to 19 drops per liter of water. After mixing, a small amount of red pigment can be added as a visual marker to help identify treated flowers. To further prevent diseases such as gray mold during flowering or fruiting, it's advisable to add 50% Cyprodinil or another suitable fungicide to the 2,4-D solution. This combination not only supports fruit development but also enhances disease resistance, ensuring healthier plants and better yields. Always follow safety guidelines when handling chemicals and ensure proper dilution to avoid damage to the crop.
