Silkie chicken breeding method

The young chicks have underdeveloped digestive systems, so it's important to feed them easily digestible food. In the first few days, you can offer them half-cooked millet and boiled egg yolk—mix one egg yolk with 18 chicks per day. As they grow older, starting at 10 days of age, you can gradually introduce more varied ingredients into their diet. For example, add 10% to 20% cornmeal, 8% to 10% chopped green vegetables, 1% to 1.5% bone meal, 1% to 1.5% fish meal, and 0.5% fine grain that has been washed with water. By the time they are 30 days old, you can switch to a mix of crushed green vegetables along with added bone meal, fish meal, and shell powder. It’s also recommended to provide 1–2 servings of pelleted feed daily, such as barley or millet. During the first two weeks after hatching, it’s crucial to prevent diseases like paratyphoid fever and P. berghei. To do this, you can add 0.04% furazolidone to their feed every day. After 15 days of age, reduce the concentration to 0.01% furazolid in the daily feed. At 45 days old, be especially cautious about preventing and treating chorioptic mite disease (chicken tsutsugamushi). Vaccination against Newcastle disease should be done at 8, 25, and 66 days of age to ensure long-term immunity. Throughout the growing period, it's essential to maintain proper environmental conditions. Keep the living area warm and dry, especially during the early stages. Ensure good air circulation and adequate lighting to support healthy development. Clean the feeding troughs and drinking fountains daily, and disinfect them every two weeks using a hot sodium hydroxide solution to prevent the spread of pathogens. Monitoring the chicks’ health and adjusting their care accordingly will help them grow strong and healthy.
