It's Sunday once again, and that means it's time for one of my favorite traditions... Sunday Citar!
Here's where we all share a quote or two—something inspiring, funny, or even tear-jerking that resonates with us this week. (Citar = to quote in Spanish)

“We do not remember days; we remember moments.” ~ Cesare Pavese, The Burning Brand

His voice came through the receiver at my desk—just like a perfect cup of coffee, strong and smooth—and it was a great way to start the day. Except, it wasn't. He was calling to check in, to see if we'd heard the news, to ask how we were doing... how I was doing. I knew he cared.

We were close friends. We'd talk about life, dreams, past experiences, and current events. I'd ramble about crushes I had, and he'd share stories about women he found interesting. We'd joke around, tease each other, and swap tales. Despite all the talking, we also enjoyed listening. We truly cared for one another.

This time, however, the call wasn't about a funny anecdote or an update for Facebook. It was serious, heavy even. Soon enough, I was at home with my family, glued to the TV as the horrifying events of September 11th unfolded before our eyes. Lower Manhattan was covered in ash and smoke, and all we could do was watch in disbelief, praying for those risking their lives to save others, for those still missing, and for the families who would soon face unimaginable loss—including mine. The man on the other end of the line had been calling to make sure I was okay, but now I wondered if I ever would be.

Out of all the moments in life—the little things that weave themselves into the tapestry of our memories—some carry sorrow and pain. In the fabric of my own memories, and those shared by countless others, lies this dark stain. A day filled with grief that the world will never forget.

What do you remember from that day?

Writing this today brought back so many emotions. Life has a way of reminding us of the fragility of everything we hold dear. While some moments bring joy, others leave scars that never fully heal. Yet, in the midst of tragedy, there’s often beauty too—like the kindness of strangers or the strength found in community.

Have you ever experienced a moment that changed your perspective forever? Let me know in the comments below. Sharing stories helps us connect, even across vast distances.

Until next Sunday, take care of yourselves and each other.
