(1) For soil preparation, it is recommended to use fertile loam soil that is rich in organic matter. Apply approximately 2,000 kg of organic fertilizer per acre to ensure the soil is well-nourished and suitable for growing sorghum. This will help create a strong foundation for healthy plant development.
(2) Sowing and seedling care can be done from March to October. In the early stages, the seedlings grow slowly, so patience is required. After about 80 days, when the plants have developed 3 to 4 leaves, they are ready to be transplanted into the main field.
(3) The ramets, or new shoots, are propagated from underground stems as well as from above-ground stems. These new shoots develop at the nodes where lateral buds are present, along with long roots. Therefore, healthy seedlings can be carefully dug up from vigorous fields and used for new plantations.
(4) When planting, maintain a spacing of 30 cm by 30 cm between each plant. This ensures adequate room for growth and proper air circulation, reducing the risk of disease.
(5) Field management should focus on maintaining a cool and shaded environment, especially during hot weather. Use shade nets if necessary to protect the crops from direct sunlight. Keep the soil consistently moist by watering regularly. Additionally, apply fertilizer every two weeks, using 7 to 10 kg of urea per acre to support continuous growth and high yields.
